REFLECTION

Hi guys…
I would like to share with you a little reflection about an experience that I gave, making a video about the innovations in the language teaching during the nineteenth century.
When I had made the video, I learned many things about how the language teaching had many changes during in the course of this century.
In the 19th century there were linguistics contributed to a questioning of the Grammar Translation Method, for example; C. Marcel referred to child language learning as a model for language teaching, another, T. Prendergast used the contextual and situational cues to interpret utterances and that they use memorized phrases and conversational routines, he proposed the first “structural syllabus”, the most important linguistic with his method for language teaching was F. Gouin, he developed an interesting approach based on his observation of children’s use of language, but these linguistics developed their methods outside the context of the established circles of education.
On the other hand, from 1880s, linguistics too became interested in the controversies that emerged about the best way to teach foreign languages, so this part was known as The Reform Movement.
To sum up, in my viewpoint, all these methods, have a single objective: to teach foreign language, but these authors of these methods had some problems to perform them.
